Maybe next year
Daytona crosses my mind every year.. I have never been, except when my dad and I worked the cabbage patch slinging Cajun cuisine as vendors when I was about 17.

Dias Custom Cycle
If you have seen any of the old Denvers articles or photos in general, it's likely you've seen a pic of Francis Dias. Friend of the late Denver Mullins, and owner of Dias Custom Cycle. Below are some pics from Dias, a bit fuzzy, but gold none the less.
An 18 year old Francis with his Panhead trike.
Shop and customer bike
Above, a 50 dollar knucklehead chopper and machining a points cover to run dual mags. It was 79, so no internet to hold your hand when figuring out these setups.
I suppose owning a shop in the same area during the 70's, it was inevitable you'd run into these two. A never before seen shot of Dick on a Cobra Trike, and another of Ed Roth waving to the camera upon his first Cobra build.
Francis Dias. Hung with custom pioneers, and built wild street machines himself. Thankfully during all of that, he manage to keep a camera close by.

1964 FL (4.0)
Think I can call it a wrap. Went from riding to West Virginia with all my boys over the summer to tearing everything down for a make over. I wanted an opportunity to change a few things, which soon led to a completely different bike. Same motor and frame, maybe even a little left over 60w in the bottom end. Everything else got touched. I love old pics when crews all painted their bikes solid, loud, and bright colors, and have been fond old South Bay style bikes and oddity's during that era. That's why it looks like this. I wanted to do as much as I could myself, and obviously needed to rope in help from some friends. I molded and painted the bike, with the help of Shane B on my tank after I screwed it up. I helped Duane with all the fabrication, where I could. All in all, I am very pleased. Bought to get to know it over the next two weeks and then off to Texas to see some friends.
Thank you Duane for everything, Thank you Mike & Matt for the Transmission, Lacing and truing and polishing. Derek for the Mag assistance, Shane for being so good at fixing my mistakes. Thanks Arie for the killer bars, thanks Adam for the terribly comfy and clean seat. Blue Candy over blue metallic with silver metallic lines and logo buried under, rebuilt knuckle transmission, 16 rear, 21 burger front, extended 33.4 front end, stainless sissy pole, and my same 64 motor that has done me well over the years.

1st Annual Meet Me In The City
This past weekend Duane and I had our event in downtown Birmingham. I'd say for what we had in our heads to the short amount of time we gave ourselves for planning and advertising, it was a huge success. A ton of swap vendors showed up, some awesome bikes made it over, and some rad old rides dropped by. My fingers are still burnt from slinging 200 or so hot dogs. Parts were good, friends were great, and weather was perfect. I can speak for Duane and myself, we will be making this an annual event. Cannot thank Riders Harley Davidson for being such a big part in this, and Yellow Hammer Creative. As well as Peter and Faith Skate Supply. We manage to make a little grip of cash to donate to Easter Seals of Alabama. All in all, perfect weekend. Thanks Mike, Corey, and Charlie for being such a huge help throughout the day. Till next time!
Jeremiah showed up a little later and caught some of the action. More pictures to come

Riverseat Co.
Adam Mingee, owner of River Seats in Virginia has been a busy bee the last couple years. Catering to all the Born Free builders and meeting other deadlines for builders wanting the special touch on their bikes. I was fortunate enough to become friends with Adam through the internet a few years back after I was the lucky winner of a bates style solo / P - pad combo he was giving away. It just so happened I was building my Panhead at the time and had not settled on a seat yet. I ran that setup since. My rebuild had me wanting a new seat along with every other thing on my bike, so I made a pan and hit up Adam.
He is a real solid person, a father, and an amazing skateboarder. His taste in style and craftsmanship on seats is next level. He coached me through my seat pan, making sure the final lines were to my liking because of his process and intentions to make sure after he touched it, the results would be perfect. I boxed it up, sent it out and here is what I have to show for it.
Seat Pan construction. Went with a seat post mount up front for easy removal, and a nut tacked to the rear for no movement while on the bike. Again, Duane for the win!
Off to Adam for foaming and the beautiful tuck & roll covering.
Overall, I couldn't ask for a better seat. Thanks again so much Adam!
